Ahmed Boulane (born 1 January 1956 in Salé) is a Moroccan film director. Considered as "l'enfant terrible du cinéma marocain" for his antics with journalists and his fellow filmmakers, yet he is considered one of the most talented Moroccan directors. After a stint at the Audiovisual in Morocco and living in Italy, he returned to Morocco where he worked for 25 years in various cinema positions: actor, location manager, production manager, casting director, and first assistant director. He has acted as first assistant director in more than fifty international feature films for renowned directors such as; Giuliano Montaldo, Carlo Di Palma, Alan J. Pakula, Philippe de Broca, Jean Delannoy, and John Landis, among other. His first short film, ''Voyage dans le passé'' received the prestigious Vatican award and allowed him to fulfill his dream of a becoming a feature film director. His first feature film, ''Ali, Rabiaa and the others'', was removed from cinemas a few days after its release, without explanation. Ahmed Boulane was immediately categorized as a Moroccan cult film director. He won several international awards that gave him immediate credibility. His second feature film, ''The Satanic Angels'', despite a hectic production (filming permit were refused at the last moment despite promises), was finally released in cinemas and became the first at the box office in Morocco, ahead of films like ''Harry Potter''. He received the award for best music in the National Festival of Tangier, the Jury Prize at the International Film Festival Avanca Portugal, and two Special Mentions at the Festival of Goa.
